All About HERA (JUNO)
Hera was the queen of Olympians. Also, Hera is the goddess of marriage, women and childbirth. Hera is in charge of marriage, and the family. Ancient Greeks believed that Hera could help them have a successful marriage and when they get pregnant, Hera could help them get successful children. They especially wanted sons more than daughters at that time so usually; they worshipped Hera by praying, giving gifts to her and making sculptures.
Hera's parents were the Titan Cronus and Rhea. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades were her brothers and Hestia and Demeter were her sisters. Zeus is Hera's husband and brother. Hera was a beautiful goddess. Some people say that Hera is more beautiful than Aphrodite who is a goddess of beauty. Hera had big eyes. Hera's personality is not attractive because often, she was cruel for example, she hated Heracles (son of Zeus) so she wanted to kill him. She sent 2 huge snakes to him. Hera's husband Zeus had lots of wives. When those wives got a baby, Hera tried to kill the babies. On the other hand, Hera was an extremely jealous goddess because of Zeus with other women. Zeus loved women and married lots of women. Hera spent lots of times getting back to Zeus because she liked him. Also, Hera loved her children except Hephaestus. Hephaestus was Hera's enemy. There were some more enemies: Heracles and his mother Alcmene, Dionysus and his mother Semele, Io, Europa, Leto, the mother of Apollo and Artemis, Lamia and her children, Paris and the Trojans, Pelias, The Titans. Her symbol was Peacock.
